A missing Altamonte Springs woman was located safe in the trunk of her vehicle in western Indian River County Wednesday.
An Indian River County Sheriff's Agriculture Unit deputy located an abandoned vehicle on State Road 60. The deputy checked the license plate and noticed that the vehicle was registered to 32-year-old Vanessa Martinez.
Martinez had been reported missing by the Altamonte Springs Police Department.
According to sheriff's office, the vehicle was found unlocked, so the responding deputy began looking in the trunk for clues in her disappearance. Instead, he found Martinez clutching the keys to her vehicle in her hand.
According to deputies, Martinez refused to speak with law enforcement. Emergency Medical Services were called to treat Martinez.
During the medical evaluation, Martinez told EMS crews that she had an argument with her husband but was physically fine.
At the hospital, deputies say Martinez refused to speak with detectives, but has made no criminal allegations to the medical staff.
