WPB science teacher raises awareness for cancer as he battles the disease

Fights stage four cancer himself

A science teacher wants to make a difference by raising awareness of cancer as he battles stage four cancer himself.

35-year old Brian Thomas is a science teacher at Okeeheelee Middle School. Two years ago he helped a fellow teacher battling cancer.

Last year he was diagnosed with melanoma.

Brian is still undergoing treatments, but plans to walk from Florida to Washington D.C.

He will be joined by Hugs and Kisses, an organization which helps cancer patients pay their bills.

"And the doctors said that I was going to die. and I was delirious. I talked with God and basically He said you have to inspire greatness in others." said Brian Thomas.

"We don't care what kind of cancer, we support families as a unit." said Jean Morris.

The walk is in June. The two plan to stop at several locations along the way to raise awareness and funds for cancer patients.
