West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio weighs in on the future of the Flagler Memorial Bridge

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Department of Transportation is expected to decide as early as next week whether the Flagler Memorial Bridge can stay open as work to build its replacement continues.

Last month, FDOT said it would close the bridge on April 1st because it just wasn't safe for drivers.
Since then -- there's been talking of fixing the bridge to keep it open during construction.

"It's going to cost more money and it is going to take longer to fix it. To get the whole bridge -- to get the whole process completed -- and, it's definitely going to cost more money. And, those are the questions the public should be asking. 'Am I going to be safe? How much of my tax dollars -- additional tax dollars are going to go into this?' And, have an opportunity to." the mayor said.
The public is invited to weigh in on this when FDOT makes an appearance before the West Palm Beach City Commission next week.
