The School District of Palm Beach County has given the City of West Palm Beach the go-ahead to open one of the first municipal charter schools in the region.
The school, which could open for grades K through 5 as early as the next school year, will open somewhere on the north side.
"I think that the vision is to continue to address needs that come up in the city. So, there will probably be additional charter schools in the future. I would think it is the vision of the mayor and the city commission," said Christopher Roog with the city of West Palm Beach.
Once it opens -- the school will be open to students from anywhere in the city.
