West Palm Beach-Boca area ranked 9th happiest metro area in the U.S.

New research says that the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton metropolitan area is the 9th happiest in the nation.

Science Daily reports that a study by economists at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver School of Economics looked at a large survey that asked respondents about their satisfaction with life.

While West Palm Beach ranked 9th, Richmond, Va., came in as the happiest city and New York, N.Y., clocked in as the unhappiest.

Top 10 happiest metropolitan areas with a population greater than 1 million (as of 2010):
