West Palm Beach 5K run scheduled near SunFest tonight

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - There will be additional traffic delays near downtown West Palm Beach Friday afternoon. The West Palm Beach Police have issued the following information about tonight's 5K run and traffic plans for Sunfest Sunday night:

On May 3rd there will be a 5K run from Edmor Road and Flagler Drive north to Okeechobee Boulevard. The run will start at 5:15pm. The North and Southbound lanes of Flagler Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic from Edmor Road north to Granada Road until approximately 6pm. North Flagler Drive will continue to be closed to northbound traffic up to Okeechobee Boulevard until approximately 6:15pm. We request all traffic avoid Flagler Drive during this time.

On May 5th at approximately 9 pm a traffic plan will be instituted in order to create a more efficient flow of traffic out of the downtown area after the fireworks show. It is recommended anyone living in the western communities near Okeechobee Boulevard travel to Okeechobee Boulevard using Dixie Highway and Quadrille Boulevard. The Australian Avenue exit ramp to westbound Okeechobee Boulevard will be closed. Vehicular traffic using Banyan Boulevard to exit downtown will have to travel to Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard for northbound I-95 or Belvedere Road for southbound I-95.

The juvenile curfew in the Entertainment District continues to be enforced. As a reminder anyone under the age of 18 not accompanied by a legal guardian must leave the downtown area prior to the start of the curfew at 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekend nights. Violators are subject to a civil fine.

As always, portions of Flagler Drive will be closed due to SunFest.
