WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A 26-year-old Florida man attempted to take a gun with him through security at Palm Beach International Airport on Thursday at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to TSA officials.
Transportation Security Administration officials say they spotted a P 226 handgun in the man's carry-on bag. They also say a magazine with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition was found in the passenger's carry-on bag.
Airport police were alerted, took possession of the bag, and arrested the passenger. The passenger was traveling to Houston, according to TSA officials.
Firearms are prohibited in carry-on bags. Firearms can be transported in checked baggage, provided they are declared to the airline, in a proper carrying case and unloaded, according to the TSA.
