Teen charged with shooting 16-year-old girl; faces carjacking and aggravated battery charges

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - One person has been arrested and charged with carjacking and shooting a 16-year-old girl.

West Palm Beach police say that on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014, at approximately 4:26 p.m, they were called to a shooting in the 2500-block of North Australian Avenue.

Police say that the victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.  

The victim, according to officers, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital and survived.

Investigators say that  the shooting took place near the 3800-block of Windsor Avenue, and appears to have been a carjacking, although the parties involved are acquaintances.

Police arrested a teen suspect whom they say was positively identified as the shooter.

The suspect, according to police, surrendered at headquarters and was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
