WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - At least 25 employees at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach will soon be out of their jobs.
The hospital's parent company, Tenet Health, has notified those employees that they will be laid off. A spokesperson says the reductions will bring patient volume and length-of-stay more in line with the size of the staff. St. Mary's Medical Center currently employees approximately 1,700 people.
Ryan Lieber, Public Relations Manager for Tenet Health, released this statement on Monday:
"St. Mary's Medical Center is committed to providing the best possible care to every patient who enters our doors. Like all hospitals, we constantly monitor the relationship of our patient volume and length-of-stay to the size of our staff. As a result, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to reduce certain positions. We care very much about our hospital family and we worked diligently to ensure the transitioning employees were treated fairly and respectfully and that patient care was not impacted."
