Police investigating officer-involved shooting in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Fla. - Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in West Palm Beach.

It happened around 6:30 Saturday morning near the corner of Dixie Highway and Avenida Alegre, which is near the Dunkin Donuts in West Palm Beach.

Police said an officer was conducting a routine patrol through the neighborhood when he noticed a situation and stopped.

West Palm Beach Police Chief Vince Demasi said some type of exchange occurred that caused the officer to shoot their weapon.

Chief Demasi said investigators are trying to figure out now why the shots were fired.

Nobody suffered any injuries, nobody has been arrested and there aren't any suspects at large, Chief Demasi said.

As standard protocol the officer will be placed on administrative leave.

Inside the crime scene tape, there is a hammer as well as  a truck with a bullet hole.
