Pedestrian hit, killed by Tri-Rail train; Officials say major delays to train service

LAKE CLARKE SHORES, Fla. - A pedestrian was hit by a Tri-Rail train headed north shortly after 6 a.m. today on tracks near Interstate 95 and Forest Hill Boulevard in Lake Clarke Shores, according to Detective Marqus McIntosh.

McIntosh said the Tri-Rail conductor saw the person on the tracks before impact.

"He just said that he saw somebody on the tracks and that person was struck on the train."

The person, believed to be a white man, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives think the actual impact happened right in the middle of the intersection -- but there are still many unanswered questions as to how this happened.

Tri-Rail officials said commuters should use alternate methods of transportation today as this incident caused significant train delays in both directions.
