Pedestrian killed on Okeechobee Boulevard near Spencer Drive

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard at Spencer Drive was closed for more than two hours Thursday morning after a pedestrian was hit and killed.

Police said around 5 a.m. a man, identified as Nathan Leggette Jr., 46, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was struck by a Honda Civic that was traveling east on Okeechobee Boulevard.

The driver remained at the scene after the wreck and cooperated with investigators, said police.

An investigation revealed that Leggette Jr. was not at a crosswalk and in the center of the road when he was struck by the Honda, according to a news release from Detective Lori Colombino of the West Palm Beach Police Department.

The driver will not face charges, said police.
