Palm Beach Outlets nearly finished, nearby West Palm Beach businesses hoping to benefit from success

The outlets open on Friday to the public

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- - The countdown is on for the grand opening of the Palm Beach Outlets.

On Friday, the doors to the new mall open to the public.

But just a few days ahead of the much anticipated opening, crews remained on scene late into Tuesday night finishing a few last touches.

Bright lights could be seen from afar as workers tested signs and completed landscaping.

Beyond on the walls of the mall, businesses owners unaffiliated with the Palm Beach Outlets were also crossing their fingers for a smooth first day and many more to come.

"I actually think its going to boost our sales. The extra traffic, being so close to it," said Chris Aracri, general manager of Bay Bay's Chicken and Waffles.

Strategically placed just across the street from the new outlets, Aracri said Bay Bay's is expecting increased traffic and new customer.

Having lived in the area for three decades, Aracri is hopeful the outlet mall will be successful.

"It's been years since something has been there and I'm a Florida boy so it'd be nice to finally see something boost the income around this area," said Aracri.

A few doors down from Bay Bay's sit Diamond Nails. It is one of the few remaining businesses that stands since the Palm Beach Mall opened, closed and is now replaced by the new Palm Beach Outlets.

Manager Kenny Nyguyen is a little skeptic.

"We will see, I'm not really sure right now if more people will come in. Hopefully," said Nguyen.

Jim Roberts, general manager for the Palm Beach Outlets, said he has a message for the folks who think the outlets are the same old Palm Beach Mall.

"They need to come out and look at the place, it's totally different. It's a complete 180 of what used to be here," said Roberts.

Drawing thousands of fresh eyes to the area, Roberts feels the Palm Beach Outlets will change the market.

Like many of the businesses dotting the outer lines of the Palm Beach Outlets, Aracri is banking on the success of the mall.

"We're already going places and that's just going to help us get there quicker," said Aracri.

There is a charity shopping event on Thursday at the Palm Beach Outlets.

The mall officially opens to the public on Friday morning.
