Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off in downtown West Palm Beach

The Palm Beach International Boat Show has dropped its anchor in downtown West Palm Beach.  You will see everything from inflatable boats to pricey yachts.

Dozens of yachts big and small have pulled in to Palm Beach County, and among them, some with a hefty price tag.

Broker Dean Anthony stood aboard one with luxurious detailing inside and out.

"It has a hot tub, on-deck seating, it has four cabins," he explained.

He says recent but not new model yachts are attractive to the right buyers.  A 2009 108' yacht he brought to the show would go for about $10 million new, but is a deal at $5 million, Anthony explained.

"That supply is being bought up and that's driving new boat buyers," he said.

On a different ramp, a yacht for $29,750,000

Broker Kevin Callahan explained, "She can accommodate ten guests in five state rooms, and she carries nine crew."

Callahan says the economy had an affect on people with enough disposable income to afford a yacht.  The industry took a hit in recent years, but it is bouncing back, he said.

"There weren't a lot of boats launched in the last three years because of the economy, but now, it's been picking up and sales are strong," he said.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show continues through Sunday on Flagler Drive in Downtown West Palm Beach.
