WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - On Wednesday, Mayor Priscilla Taylor took time out of her busy day to deliver meals to some residents in need of a helping hand in Palm Beach County.
Taylor participated in the “Mayors March for Meals” by picking up food from “Meals on Wheels” at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
The program is designed to bring attention to the organization which delivers nutritious meals to senior citizens in need.
Once she had the food all packed up, she headed to several homes in West Palm Beach Wednesday afternoon to pay some residents a surprise visit.
The Palm Beach County Mayor says feels the program is definitely necessary in the community.
The first Meals on Wheels program in the United States began in 1954 by a group of people in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who saw the need to serve their aging neighbors who were no longer able to shop and feed themselves.
