WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - NewsChannel 5 will unveil its new set Friday night following the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.
The set, months in the making, is state of the art and will set a new tone for WPTV.
"We are extremely proud of our new studio environment. It is contemporary, colorful and reflects South Florida," said Steve Wasserman, WPTV General Manager.
"More importantly, the set and its cutting edge technology will allow us to convey news stories in a more compelling and easy to understand fashion."
The video above shows a time lapse of the demolition of the old set and construction of the new one - nearly two months compressed down to two minutes. We also posted a second video from WPTV's 50th anniversary back in 2004.
The set was designed by Broadcast Design International (BDI) in conjunction with the Scripps Design Center.
