New York Sen. Chuck Schumer was in West Palm Beach Thursday to address the Forum Club at the convention center.
Schumer spoke about trade, technology and answered questions from the Boca Raton High School debate team.
The senator also talked about why he believes fellow Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders did not win the Democratic nomination for president.
"I would argue that the hard left on the Democratic side has less influence in the Democratic party than the hard right on the Republican side and that is why Bernie Sanders could not surpass Hillary Clinton, but Donald Trump could surpass all the other candidates," said Schumer.
Schumer stands to be the next senate majority leader if the Democrats win control of the Senate in November’s election.
