WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - It may be T-shirt and shorts weather in South Florida, but don't let the balmy temperatures fool you. If your plans include flying out Friday night, you better check with the airlines before heading to the airport. Your flight may be delayed or worse, canceled.
The nasty weather that is turning even Dallas into a winter wonderland is causing many flight cancellations or delays in South Florida.
Flights in and out of Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are being affected by the inclement weather.
PBIA is reporting four departing and five arriving flights have been delayed because of weather. Most of the arriving flights affected originated in Atlanta or Washington, D.C. Flights headed to Atlanta, Baltimore and Portland, Maine also are delayed.
Gregory Meyer, spokesman for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, said that at least 15 flights have been delayed as a result of the weather system moving east across the country and 14 flights between FLL and Dallas-Fort Worth Airport were canceled.
