Nerissa Carter Young can barely hold back the tears when talking about her son, 19-year-old Trey Ingraham. "When you think on Trey, think on his essence, think about who Trey really was, think on the positive."

Young says those who knew Trey are heartbroken that he was shot to death in Daytona Beachalong with his friend Jordan Paden: "Think about how much he loved life, think about how much he loved his family, think about how much he loved his friends."

The man accused of the murders was arrested over the weekend and is behind bars.

Now this mother, whose organization helps families cope with loss due to violence, is dealing with her own tragedy.

"He was trying to find his way, and helping others find their way, Carter Young said.

Trey's father Eddie Young also shared his thoughts: "Not be consumed in the violence that already took place so, Trey he has a large following, a lot of friends."

His mother also revealed that Trey had dreams about fighting the kind of crime that took his life.

"I called him a child of God so that he would understand he had a higher purpose in this world," she said. "He used to say that wanted to be a police officer and I said, 'you know that's dangerous.' I said, 'maybe you want to be chief of police.' No, I just want to be a police officer."

His family said Trey graduated from Santaluces High School.

The family says they want to thank the Daytona Beach Police Department and Sgt. Grant Karcher for a quick arrest as the investigation continues.

Right now the family is in the process of planning funeral services and will eventually have a celebration of life event.
