The holidays season is a time many step up to help others across the community, but charitable organizations are reminding people they need help all year long.
For many, Thanksgiving and Christmas are times to think about giving back.
"You have families, you have friends that come out and do this as a tradition," said volunteer Joseph Russo, while helping out at the Big Heart Brigade. "To serve, to volunteer together, and that's a tradition that the holiday season really brings out."
"Being able to provide one meal for that holiday and knowing that somebody's going to have a meal at least for one night, that's everything for us," said Russo's friend D.J. Fetterman, who also volunteers every year at the Big Heart Brigade.
The Salvation Army feeds and provides services to thousands of people across Palm Beach County, not only during the holidays, but all year long. The county chapter's executive director, Micheal Pinkney, says it's a blessing that there is always an influx of people willing to help out around the holidays.
"We always need a ton more because the amount of people that need help or food during the holiday season is just astronomical," Pinkney said.
The hope, Pinkney says, is that seasonal volunteers will enjoy helping so much that they'll stick around all year long.
"Sometimes these are the ones that become lifelong volunteers," Pinkney said. "This is their passion now. They want to volunteer helping kids or feeding the needy."
