WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio just got a close-up look the progress being made on the Palm Beach Outlets.
The 90,000 square-foot outlet mall has been under construction much of the past year.
More than 100 stores -- including Kenneth Cole and Toys "R" Us -- are expected to open there in mid-February.
The mayor says the new stores will complement the stores many of us shop at at CityPlace and on Clematis Street.
"We see it as complimentary in that it's only going to bring more people to those places. Just the fact that the mall is here has already spurred development in this area and I think we're going to continue to see that happening here," the mayor said.
The outlet mall was designed with the environment in mind. Many of the trees that were there before the old Palm Beach Mall was razed were preserved. New trees are also being planted.
The list of stores at the new mall includes Nine West Outlet, J. Crew Factory, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, Kenneth Cole Outlet, DKNY, Van Heusen, White House | Black Market, Gap Outlet, Clarks Outlet, Banana Republic Factory Store, Rawlings, Travelpro, Nautica, Aerosoles, Hartstrings, Jones New York Outlet Stores, PacSun, Tobu and Oriental Eatery.
