PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A veteran Palm Beach County Sheriff's sergeant made his first appearance in court Friday morning.
Sgt. Mario Pradere, 50, was arrested by his own sheriff's colleagues Thursday morning. He is facing charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and a charge of recording video of a child under the age of 16.
The investigation started in June when Pradere was accused of possessing naked pictures and videos of minors. The material, according to court documents, was found on a SD Card discovered in furniture that had been removed from his Wellington home.
At his court hearing Friday a judge set bond at $50,000 for each charge.
"People get arrested all the time, and they're presumed innocent. In Mr. Pradere's case, it's no different. He's presumed innocent. But I really hope that you guys follow this case with the interest that you all have today. Obviously you're very interested in this case. I hope you follow it," Pradere's attorney Steve Sessa said.
Pradere was ordered not to have contact with anyone under 18 and to surrender his firearm, which his attorney said he already did.
He is on paid administrative leave.
