Major transportation grant awarded to South Florida, TIGER grant details revealed today

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -  A 14 million dollar grant has just been announced to upgrade rail transportation in South Florida.

The money will go toward connecting rail corridors in South Florida and making travel more efficient on Tri-Rail, the Florida East Coast Railway and C-S-X -- which moves freight around the country.

State and local leaders joined U.S. Representative Lois Frankel at the Tri-Rail station in West Palm Beach for the announcement.

The grant money will also go toward the "All Aboard Florida Intercity Rail" which will provide train service from Miami to Orlando.
