WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A 911 call about a burglary to a home in the 900 block of Burch Dr. in unincorporated West Palm Beach led to the discovering of an indoor marijuana growing operation.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says that on Sept. 5, 2013 they received a call from a boy who said that three men were in his backyard, one was wearing a bandana over his face and one pointed a hand gun at him.
The child said the trio wanted him to open the door, and when he didn't they pointed a gun.
Investigators say that when they arrived at the house there was a strong smell of marijuana.
Deputies say that the entire garage area had been converted into a grow house.
Luis Alvarez, according to PBSO, had rented the garage from the home owner and used it to grow weed.
Deputies say that they recovered 75 pounds of marijuana from the garage.
Alvarez told deputies that he set up the growing operation by himself and the homeowner had nothing to do with it or any knowledge of it.
Alvarez was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on marijuana trafficking charges.
