'Look Around. Be Aware' campaign urges Palm Tran bus riders to be alert

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - There is a new push for people to keep their eyes open for anything that looks suspicious, especially if they're riding the bus.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Palm Tran are launching the "Look Around...Be Aware" campaign.

Every Palm Tran bus is about to have a sign telling passengers to be alert. Each sign also has a phone number for them to call if they see something suspicious.

The campaign's focus is busses because officials say everyone either uses them or sees them go by.

"It's not people as much as it is behaviors," said John Sullivan of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. "Or things that have been left behind or behaviors that might be seen out of the ordinary."

People who see something suspicious should call 855-FLA-SAFE (855-352--7233)

It's a toll free number to a 24/7 call center where trained law enforcement will take the call.
