Lavaunti Wingard charged with animal cruelty

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A West Palm Beach woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

Police were called to the 2700 block of Broadway to remove a one or two-year-old old pit bull on Sunday.

Investigators from Animal Care and Control say that last April 2nd  they cited the dog's owner Lavaunti Wingard for keeping the animal without food, water, shelter, and tags and tethering it to a fence.

When investigators returned on April 27th they say Wingard had not done anything to help the dog.

Officers say that they found duct tape on the ground that had been used as a muzzle on the dog named "Duchess."

Wingard was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail after police say she ignored two previous citations.
