WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Deputies said Joshua Buck of Loxahatchee died after his motorcycle collided with a van Saturday night on Royal Palm Beach Boulevard and Tangerine Boulevard.
One neighbor said accidents always happen at that intersection and he hopes officials will do something about it.
Jason Morway dashed down the street from his home after hearing the crash around 8 o'clock last night.
He captured the flames from the accident on his cell phone.
“The gas tank was here on fire and the driver of the motorcycle was down probably about 50 feet down the sidewalk,” said Morway.
Deputies said 20-year-old Joshua Buck was riding the motorcycle southbound on Royal Palm Beach Boulevard when the driver of the van was turning left. Morway ran over to check on him.
Deputies said Buck passed away at the hospital.
Morway said he’s once again reminded of how dangerous the intersection is, saying speed is an issue.
He said, "This is a residential area and they got a 45 mph speed limit going through residential.”
Morway said he’s talked to officials about adding traffic lights, making this a four-way stop or even lowering the speed limit to by 10 miles, like it is on the other end of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard.
“Right when you get out of Royal Palm here and you get into the city of Royal Palm, down Royal Palm Beach Boulevard, it suddenly drops down to like 35 mph. So for some reason, there's a difference between here and there,” said Morway.
The crash remains under investigation. No word if any charges will be filed.
