Jean Bertrand: Bond set for third suspect charged with attack on school bus driver

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Jean Bertrand, the third suspect to be charged with the beating of a Palm Beach County school bus driver, appeared before a judge Wednesday morning at the Gun Club Road courtroom for his first appearance.

Palm Beach County School District Police say that Bertrand, along with Shacaurra Burns and Ryan Beckford, climbed on a school bus on April 14, punched the driver and took the keys to the bus.

The bus driver Jean Beauzile told investigators that he had asked the children on the bus to exit in a single file line rather than push each other.

Beauzile said that he then closed the bus door and asked his riders to line up.

Police say that Burns forced the door open and proceeded to pull on the emergency brake release.

Beauzile told officers that Bertrand and Beckford got on the bus and attacked him.

Burns and Beckford were arrested last weekend.

Bond was set at $6,250 for Bertrand who faces battery on a school board employee, trespassing and child abuse charges.
