Impact 5: WPTV NewsChannel 5's commitment to you

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - There's a big chill in South Florida and it has nothing to do with the weather. It has everything to do with the housing crisis that has been choking our economy for several years.

No one is quite sure if we've seen the worst of it, but we do know it will take years for the housing market here to make a comeback.

It may never return to the glory days of yesteryear, but it would nice if it would just stabilize.

So many of our friends and neighbors are struggling with the effects of the collapse. You might not have lost your house but you might be underwater in terms of its value, or your neighborhood is going downhill because others have been foreclosed upon, or your HOA is in distress, or you've lost your job as a result.

We could go on. As a result of this mess, we are committing ourselves to an unprecedented year-long project we call "Impact 5 The housing crisis, restoring the dream," which is designed to help our community navigate the housing collapse.

We won't be able to solve the problem, but we hope we can help answer questions, ease the pain and lead the way.

We're in this together. I'm Steve Wasserman. Let me hear from you
