Artists holding fundraiser to save home from foreclosure

They are selling their drawings and paintings

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Two artists in danger of losing their home, Anthony and Trina Burks,  hope their artwork could be what saves them.

"As artists, we sometimes feel that we are endangered species because our art today is a little hard to put out because of the whole digital world now," Anthony said.

The Burks are selling their drawings and paintings as a fundraiser.

"We wanted to find a unique way to save our home and raise money at the same time," Trina said. "Our goal is $25,000 and we're a third -- we only have a third in right now."

The Burks started getting behind after Anthony lost his job. Since then, they've been working towards a modification while going through their savings.

The Burks hope their artwork and idea inspire others to keep fighting.

"Everyone has a talent on some level and I think that instead of rolling over and saying it's done we can't do anything about it. Utilize the talent that you have. You may not be an artist, you might be a cook. Do something that can help you. Don't necessarily assume that people are just going to come out because a lot of people may not know," Trina said.

But now that word has spread, other artists in the community are supporting their fundraiser. They're hopeful the help keeps coming, but prepared if they have to move on.

"I'm a person who believes things always happen for a reason, and if this is not meant for me that's not stopping me from reaching my goal in life pretty much and that is to be a successful artist," Anthony said.
