WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. - Employees at Rich's Ice Cream at 2915 Dixie Highway South in West Palm Beach were evacuated Wednesday after a chemical emergency, including two taken to the hospital.
Hazmat units from West Palm Beach Fire Rescue were called to the scene just after noon.
West Palm Beach Fire Officials say that there was a leak in the tank that holds anhydrous ammonia.
Anhydrous ammonia, according to fire officials, is used to cool down the ice cream.
Alan Ortman with WPBFR said 20 people were treated for exposure and two were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment.
Firefighters have been able to shut the valve inside and the tank is no longer leaking.
