Green Market opens one last time for the summer, closes for the season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Customers and vendors are braving the heat one last time this summer for the Green Market in Downtown West Palm Beach.

The city is suspending the market's operations until October when it's a little cooler and more people are down during the season.

For loyal customers and vendors it's a sad day.

Saturday as vendors put out their produce and set up their tents many said opening one last time is bittersweet.

It's bitter because it is the last day and this means they are losing business.

One vendor said it's sweet though considering how hot it is during the summer and since they must cancel sometimes when it rains.

City officials said the lack of foot traffic coupled with the summer weather are a few reasons why they're closing the market for the next few months.

Some vendors will be moving to the West Palm Beach Antique and Flea Market on Narcissus Avenue just north of downtown.

It happens every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
