West Palm Beach, Fla. - Governor Rick Scott announced Monday the state is giving $8.4 million to Palm Beach County schools.
Scott made the announcement at the Palm Beach Economic Forum at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
The governor says the Palm Beach County School District is getting the money because students have shown higher scores in several subjects.
"I want to highlight how well our education system is doing," Scott said. "How well the Palm Beach K-12 system is doing, it's one of the reasons so many people are moving here."
Scott says the money will be used to buy new equipment, hire more staff, and give bonuses to teachers.
