WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A man police describe as a convicted sex offender is now facing murder charges in West Palm Beach.
On Wednesday around 12:22 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call at an apartment in the 600 block of 26th Street.
Police discovered Frank Stevens had been stabbed to death.
Officers say that they were given a description of s suspect which led them to Fred Tims at 25th and North Tamarind Avenue.
Tims, according to police, had the victim's wallet when he was questioned.
Investigators say that Tims confessed to the stabbing and has been charged with first degree murder, residential burglary and robbery.
Police say that Tims is a convicted sex offender from St. Louis and had been arrested in New York for stealing credit cards.
He appeared before a Palm Beach County judge Thursday morning at the jail on Gun Club Road and was ordered to be held without bond.
