Florida pizza delivery workers concerned over safety after two different deliveries end in violence

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- - In the matter of one week, two different pizza delivery workers were violently attacked while trying to do their job.

One was shot multiple times in Miami, the other was beaten up and robbed by several attackers.

"You never know if someone is going to try to pull something out on you and try to get a free pizza," Justin Ortega, who delivers pizza in West Palm Beach.

Ortega said the recent incidents of violence make him concerned for his own safety. He said he remembers when he was attacked.

"I just showed up somewhere and a bunch of guys just jumped me for no reason," said Ortega.

Pizza delivery workers have to be aware of their surroundings said Ortega. He said there are certain neighborhoods that give him anxiety. Ortega said when he is out on deliveries, he is alone and vulnerable.

"At the end of the day, they cash you out and until then, you have all that money sitting in your pocket, which could be up to 500 dollars," said Ortega.

It is money Ortega works hard for and knows that can be gone in a flash at any moment.

"Their karma is going to come to them eventually. Whatever they're doing with that money from that pizza guy, who knows what they're doing. You know what goes around comes around," said Ortega.

Indian River County deputies made several arrests surrounding the recent beating.

Investigators have yet to find who is responsible for the shooting in Miami.
