WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - West Palm Beach's mayor wants drivers to be ready for traffic when the Flagler Memorial Bridge closes May 12.
Mayor Jeri Muoio says there is a plan in place to try and stop congestion.
Muoio says the county can monitor intersections and change traffic signals when needed.
EMTs will also be able to use boxes at stop lights to change traffic lights in emergency situations, according to Muoio.
The mayor says that doesn't mean people should expect a smooth ride.
"The fortunate part is that it is at the end of the season. We're going to have fewer people going back and forth over the bridge," says Muoio. "Expect delays and be patient."
The bridge is slated to close for six months so crews can work on its replacement.
