Firefighters battle boat fire next to West Palm Beach home

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- West Palm Beach Fire Rescue crews are battled a boat fire next to a home at 921 Alamanda Road in West Palm Beach.

The home is located just east of 95, near Parker Road and Southern Boulevard.

A 24-foot boat caught on fire at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Thursday.  The boat fire spread to the eaves of the single-family home, according to fire rescue officials. 

The fire then moved to the attic of the home.  Firefighters were able to put out the fire through the roof of the home, according to Allan Ortman, spokesman for West Palm Beach Fire Rescue. 

No one was home except a dog when a fire started. The dog was safely rescued by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
