Family and friends of Edward Archbold, who died last week after eating roaches and worms, will gather at a funeral for the West Palm Beach man on Saturday.
Services will be 11 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 2851 Stirling Road, Fort Lauderdale. Archbold, 32, who worked at a canvas shop, had been active at the church, a spokesman said. Quality Care Cremation Services of Plantation is handling arrangements.
Archbold fell ill, collapsed, and later died Friday night after participating in a bug-eating contest at a Deerfield Beach reptile shop. He won the prize, an ivory ball python, which he intended to give to a friend. The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to determine a cause of death, and it may be a week or two before one is announced, the office said.
