UPDATE: 26-year-old Eddie Diaz, who jumped off a moving Tri-Rail train at the West Palm Beach train station has died, according to Ryan Lieber, spokesman for St. Mary's Medical Center.
His family is donating his organs.
A man rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center after jumping from a train just before 8 p.m. Monday evening has been identified as 26-year-old Eddie Diaz, according to the West Palm Beach Police Department.
Diaz was on a southbound Tri-Rail train, but as the train began to pull out of the West Palm Beach Station at 209 South Tamarind Avenue he realized that he left his cell phone on one of the benches, a Tri-Rail spokeswoman said.
He pulled the emergency cord and as the emergency doors opened, he jumped out and appeared to have slipped when he landed on a platform, the police department said.
He's being treated for a head injury.
Around 50 passengers were on the train at the time of the accident.
