Deputies respond to a shots fired call and hit and run crash in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A hit and run crash and report of gunfire in West Palm Beach may be related, investigators say.

Officers with both West Palm Beach police and the sheriff's office responded to the 4700 block of North Australian Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. Monday after 911 calls reported shots being fired near the Hampton Court apartments.

Officers arrived on scene but did not find anyone who had been hit by gunfire.

Moments later investigators were dispatched to a report of a hit and run crash in which a car had struck a Hospice of Palm Beach County van.

The driver and occupants of the car ran from the scene.

The vehicle involved in that crash matches the description of one of the vehicles seen fleeing from the area of the shots fired call.
