A Delta plane is delayed at Palm Beach International Airport Wednesday evening, after crews reported a smell of fumes in the cockpit.

Flight 2448, an Airbus A321 aircraft, was departing to Atlanta at 7:45 p.m. when crews noticed the fumes.

According to the FAA, the plane aborted takeoff, the aircraft taxied off the runway and deplaned passengers via stairs.

The FAA is investigating.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews are on the scene.

Delta Airlines released the following statement:

Early in the takeoff procedure, the flight crew of Delta flight 2448 followed procedures to discontinue their takeoff when a possible instrumentation issue was observed in the flight deck. Upon taxi back to the gate at Palm Beach International Airport, a smoky odor was observed in the cabin. Airport first responders met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution. The 173 Atlanta-bound customers will be accommodated on another aircraft, expected to depart around 9:00 p.m. Delta representatives are apologizing to customers for the delay.
