Irwin Goldberg: Delray Beach man faces judge after being stabbed, arrested

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The man who police say walked into the Delray Beach Police Department on Tuesday with stab wounds made his first court appearance Friday.

Irwin Goldberg, 78, is facing charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

A judge set bail at $10,500.

Authorities say Goldberg got into an argument with a prostitute on Atlantic Avenue and beat her with a bat, but say he lied about the circumstances.

They say she stabbed him in self-defense.

The incident caused the area around the South County Courthouse to close while police investigated.
