Kimberly Mitchell began with just one word to describe John Glenn. "Extraordinary."

When she first heard the news that Glenn had died, this was her first thought.

"The conversation he and my dad are having right now," says Mitchell.

Just two astronauts reminiscing.

Kimberly's father was Edgar Mitchell, a Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 14. Mitchell died earlier this year at the age 85.

"Sixth man to walk on the moon. You think about a John Glenn going where nobody had ever been before," says Mitchell.

Kimberly met Glenn several times years ago before he became the oldest person to fly in space aboard the Shuttle Discovery in 1998.

"Senator Glenn went back into space at 77 and my dad was convinced he was like I'm going to beat him, I'm going to be 87. That was a part of my dad's plan," says Mitchell.

She says Glenn set an example for future generations.

"There's nothing we can't do if we set our minds to it."

She praised Glen as a man with a unique perspective on our fragile planet's environment.

As Kimberly looks at pictures of her father, it's hard not to get emotional.

It's hard to realize these great men are gone.

"We would always have them they would always be part of Americana and they're not, they're still human and so we lost another human, but an amazing one."
