PBSO: Driver was under the influence of alcohol

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH - Just before 11 a.m. Sunday, 25-year-old Jimmy Morrell III, driving a 1993 Honda, ran a red light at the intersection of Drexel Road and Belvedere Road in suburban West Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office.

His car collided with a 2000 Dodge truck driven by 24-year-old Cody Kasye.

During the crash the front of the truck impacted the driver's side of the Honda.

Investigators say Morrell was under the influence of alcohol and caused the crash.

Morrell was driving with a suspended license.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, was deemed a trauma alert and was transported by air to St. Mary's Hospital with serious injuries.

Both Kasye and his passenger James Holland were wearing seatbelts. Holland sustained minor injuries.
