Courtney Johnson charged with shooting West Palm Beach neighbor over loud music

Man was upset because his mom was trying to sleep

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An argument between neighbors over loud music Sunday morning left one person wounded by gunshots and the other arrested for attempted murder.

The incident occurred around 1:46 a.m. in the 800 block of 39th Street.

West Palm Beach police said a man was sitting in his front yard listening to music that was playing from his vehicle.

His neighbor, identified as Courtney Johnson, asked the man to turn down the music because his mother was trying to sleep, said police.

The victim turned the volume down, but Johnson told him that it wasn't enough, according to officers. The two men then had a verbal altercation.

The victim told police that Johnson then removed his gun from his waistband and shot him multiple times in the legs and torso.

Police said the victim, who did not suffer life-threatening injuries, was able to crawl inside his house where family members called 911.

Johnson, whom police said is a convicted three-time felon, was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
