WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - West Palm Beach's mayor is firing the company hired to run the city's housing department.
Mayor Jeri Muoio looked into the job Community Redevelopment Associates of Florida was doing and she didn't like what she saw.
She said the company missed deadlines and mishandled applications during its two years with the city.
She says the company was unresponsive when the city asked for more manpower.
So as of June first West Palm Beach will be going another way.
"There was a lot of last-minute running around and when the last-minute running around was taking place mistakes were made and that is unacceptable,” the mayor said.
The mayor says there is a clause in CRA’s contract that lets the city end the deal a year early.
Muoio wouldn't say how much money city is paying the company.
