WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Coast Guard confirms a fourth person is dead following a capsized boat incident Thursday.
Search and rescue crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Etheridge received a report from the Royal Netherlands Navy Zeeland around noon Thursday regarding a capsized 24-foot boat located 75 miles northeast of West Palm Beach with 7 suspected migrants atop of the hull.
Crews with the Royal Netherlands Navy Zeeland were able to rescue the 7 people and recover three bodies from inside of the boat. The Coast Guard continued to search late into Thursday night for two others believed to have been on the boat. They recovered an additional body Friday.
According to a spokesman with the Coast Guard, the bodies recovered at sea have not been transported to the Florida mainland. The seven survivors remain aboard the Cutter Etheridge and they will stay on the ship until determination is made whether to return the survivors to their country of origin.
