WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - After debating the topic for hours on Monday inside City Hall, West Palm Beach city commissioners voted to delay the Chapel by the Lake decision until the January 6 Commission meeting.
Developers and commissioners went back and forth Monday night as a packed city hall full of citizens eagerly waited to give the commission their opinion on the proposed waterfront condo project.
But after hours of discussion, a motion was approved to delay the final vote on the project for another 60 days.
"It's never a waste of time to get involved," said resident Nancy Pullman. "But I've spent about 20 hours on this issue."
Pullman said she was surprised to see commissioners motion to delay a vote on the project.
Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell said she had concerns the public was not involved enough. She thinks the extra time will help.
"I do," said Mitchell. "I wouldn't have proposed it if I didn't think it'd help."
Developers vowed to use the 60 days to reach out to the public to help reshape the project.
