WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio has announced that Asst. Chief Bryan Kummerlen is her choice to be the new West Palm Beach police chief.
The city first posted the news on Twitter and its website.
According to the city, Kummerlen is a 26-year veteran and was serving as interim chief since Vincent Demasi retired earlier this year.
“Right now, the best thing to keep the department moving in the right direction is consistency and stability. Bryan was the chief architect of the police department’s new strategic plan, and he was responsible for implementing many of the positive changes that have taken place in that department over the past two years,” Mayor Muoio said in a statement.
The West Palm Beach City Commission will vote on the choice May 27.
