WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - It's the worst of times for book lovers in central Palm Beach County, as one of the area's few remaining physical bookstores, Barnes and Noble at CityPlace, has closed for good.
WPTV first reported in March that the store would close to make way for an LA Fitness early next year.
The company had not publicized when the CityPlace store would close, but WPTV has learned that the store shut down this weekend.
A call to the store leads to an answering machine message that says, in part, "Our location has closed for business" and directs customers to the Palm Beach Gardens location.
The bookstore was one of the first retailers to move into CityPlace when it launched more than 12 years ago.
Bibliophiles in the area can still find their favorite titles at Classic Bookshop in Palm Beach. The store is at 310 South County Road.
